Helical
Helical anchors function similarly to wood screws, using the soil as load-bearing material. The helical plates on these anchors act like screw threads, threading themselves into the soil when turned.
Helical anchors are installed using hydraulic rotary motors, which come in various sizes. They can range from handheld sizes to larger models that require mounting on heavy equipment.
The anchor shaft is placed in the motor and turned, causing the plates to thread into the soil. Factors such as soil type and loads are considered when determining the size and depth of helical anchors, making site-specific engineering necessary.
